CONFESSIONS

Throughout history, Baptist peoples have published summaries of their beliefs in statements or confessions of faith. As they are not part of inspired canon, such documents must never supplant God's Word as final authority. But these confessions testify to God's promised maintenance of the succession of truth and have historically weathered the tests of both Scripture and time.

	Articles of Faith, Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church (Adopted 14 August 1829) We believe in one only true and living God: the Father, The Son and Holy Ghost. Deuteronomy 6.4 Isaiah 44.6 Jeremiah 10.10 Matthew 28.19 1 Corinthians 12.3-6 We believe that the scripture of the Old and New Testaments are the words of God and the only rule of faith and practice. Acts 1.16 Acts 28.25 2 Timothy 3.16 2 Peter 1.20-21 We believe in the doctrine of election and that God chose His people in Christ before the foundation of the world. Deuteronomy 7.6 Isaiah 42.1 John 15.16, 19 Romans 9.11-13 Ephesians 1.4 2 Timothy 2.10 We believe in the doctrine of original sin and man’s impotency to recover himself from the fallen state in which he is in by nature by his own free will ability. Genesis 2.16-17 Genesis 3.22-24 Romans 3.9-12 Romans 5.12-18 Ephesians 2.1, 5 We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the imputed righteousness of Christ. Romans 3.24-26 Romans 4.6-8 Romans 5.9-10 We believe that God’s elect shall be regenerated, called, converted, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit. John 6.37-39, 45 Romans 8.28-30 1 Corinthians 6.11 2 Timothy 2.13 Titus 3.5 Jude 1 We believe that saints shall persevere in grace and never shall fall finally away. Psalm 37.24 Mark 13.13 Romans 2.7 Philippians 1.6 1 Peter 1.5 We believe in the resurrection of the dead and general judgment and that the joys of the righteous and the punishment of the wicked be eternal. Daniel 12.2 Matthew 25.31-46 Acts 24.15 2 Thessalonians 1.7-10 We believe that baptism and the Lord’s supper are ordinances of Jesus Christ and true believers are the subjects, and that the true mode of baptism is immersion. Matthew 13.16 Matthew 28.19 John 3.23 Acts 8.36-38 1 Corinthians 11.24-26 We believe that no minister has a right to the administration of the ordinances, but only such as are baptized, called and come under the imposition of hands by the presbytery. Matthew 28.19 1 Corinthians 11.23-26 We believe that none but regularly baptized members have a right to commune at the Lord’s table.
